POSITION: Probationary; Range C* Salary Minimum $44,354 Salary Maximum $76,826 Salary Type Annual Bargaining Unit/Plan 211, MSUAASF Job Description The Pathway Specialist performs outreach, recruitment, career/major advising, and retention of students and serves as the coordinator for the Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) program.
The position will work with the ISAT Faculty Committee and MinnPoly Executive Director to ensure ISAT tracks align with student and regional needs.
The position will also advise ISAT students and coordinate the capstone experience for students in the program.
More generally, the Specialist supports students transferring from external community colleges and other University majors into programs within the Minnesota Polytechnic & Applied Learning Institute (MinnPoly) from initial inquiry through graduation.
The Pathway Specialist will focus on managing and coordinating partnerships in Southern Minnesota with two-year community colleges, industry, and secondary schools to strategically diversify STEM fields, increase access to educational opportunities and quality careers, and grow degree completion programs for Minnesota State University, Mankato and MinnPoly.
The position reports to the Director of Operations & Industry Partnerships and collaborates extensively with internal and external partners to ensure that the university provides programs and services that meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and industry.
The Specialist will work closely with the metro-based Pathways Specialist to implement practices that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Serving a central role for MinnPoly, this position will facilitate a quality, consistent experience for students, and industry while increasing enrolment, retention, student satisfaction, and industry collaboration.
The position will provide strategies with the goal of supporting students from inquiry to graduation, as well as helping to establish MinnPoly as a responsive and collaborative educational partner for handson, experiential learning opportunities and industry connections.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.
) Minimum of two years working in a college or university with outreach, recruiting, customer service, project management, advising and marketing-related experience.
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and orchestrate recruitment-related activities.
Ability to organize work and create internal processes to support performance outcomes.
Ability to learn and retain a wide range of institutional information.
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle and process sensitive and confidential information.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and external parties.
Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Master’s degree in educational leadership, student affairs/development, marketing major, STEM degree, or other related major.
Knowledgeable and/or experience in experiential education and trends that integrate technical and humanities skills in higher education Knowledge of diverse student populations and transfer process, including the the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum.
Track record of improving equitable outcomes for students.
Other Requirements Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work mode: Telework: Up to 20% of the time.
A position with a work arrangement that allows an employee to perform work on a regular basis at a telework location that is not the employee’s permanent/principal work location.
Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
Travel: Up to 20% of the time.
Occasional in-state and out-state travel may be required to attend professional work-related conferences and partnership meeting.
Some travel to other locations within the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota may be required.
